Australia's most diverse island
Tasmania is not only the southernmost but also the most diverse island ‘down under’. With its unique flora and fauna, Tassie has always captured people’s imagination. From the famous Tasmanian devil to echidnas, kangaroos and wombats – the term ‘endemic species’ could well have been coined here.
This exclusive photography and film tour delves deep into Tasmania’s underwater world. Starting in Hobart, based at Eaglehawk Neck: 18 dives to see weedy seadragons, draughtsboard sharks, handfish and seals. We will also undertake several hikes to the cliffs of the Tasman Peninsula, visit the penguin colony at Pirate Bay and experience the fascinating story of giant kelp reforestation alongside local marine biologists.

A small group on a photo hunt
A hire van will be at our disposal throughout the trip, allowing us to explore the island to our heart’s content and visit its rich wildlife. From Tasmanian devils and various species of kangaroo to wombats and echidnas – Tasmania has it all.
Our hotel is situated right next to the world-famous Tessellated Pavement, another unique photo opportunity. As well as a restaurant, the accommodation also offers self-catering facilities.
Eaglehawk Neck
Eaglehawk Neck is situated on the east coast of the Tasman Peninsula in Tasmania, around 80 km south of Hobart, and forms a narrow isthmus connecting the peninsula to the mainland. The region is famous for its dramatic coastal landscapes, convict history and the rich wildlife of the Tasman Peninsula.
What awaits us there
- Tessellated Pavement features mosaic-like rock formations on the beach that look like tiles at low tide – a geological highlight.
- Pirates Bay, right next to Eaglehawk Neck, impresses with turquoise waters, high cliffs and whale watching – the Pirates Bay Lookout offers breathtaking panoramic views and one of the world’s best coffee vans.
- The penguin colony at Eaglehawk Neck Beach is perfect for night-time observation tours, where Little Penguins emerge from the sea
- Tasman Arch, Devil’s Kitchen and Blowhole feature rock arches, caves and sea blowholes along short walking trails on the peninsula.
