The housing features Nauticam's signature port locking system - easy to use yet more secure than most methods of securing ports. No twisting required, simply press and lock, and the new locking system makes port changes quick, easy and secure.
The NA-A5000 comes standard with the inbuilt electronics of the Nauticam vacuum system. As standard, it serves as an acoustic and visual leak detector, but with a Nauticam M14 vacuum valve, (NA25611), it becomes a vacuum control system - early warning of any problem with water tightness - which means safety when photographing underwater.
Lenses and ports
The amazing quality of the kit lens will see many underwater photographers opting for this system instead of a compact camera. The 16-50mm lens is very versatile and may be the only lens some users will ever need. However, unlike a compact system that does not allow lens changes, the A5000 supports a wide range of Sony and Zeiss lenses that are ideal for any shooting situation, including underwater. Nauticam supports all Sony and Zeiss lenses that are suitable for use underwater.
Lenses such as the Sony E 16mm F2.8 pancake lens, either with or without the VCLECF1 fisheye converter lens, or the Sony E 10-18mm F4 OSS allow for full wide-angle coverage and a choice between fisheye and rectilinear. Sony produces the E 30mm F3.5 macro lens for fish portraits and light macro applications. For demanding macro enthusiasts, Nauticam and Zen Underwater support the Canon EF-S 60mm f/2.8 Macro USM, Canon EF 100mm f/2.8 Macro USM and Canon EF 100mm f/2.8L Macro IS USM lenses via the Metabones adapters.
The Carl Zeiss Touit 2.8/12 mm lens is one of the best wide-angle lenses on the market and is supported by a Zen Underwater Adapter and a dome port. And Zeiss has launched the Zeiss Touit 2.8/50M macro lens, which is supported by a Nauticam mount, for true 1:1 macro in a native E-mount lens.
The Nauticam Super Macro Converter is an ideal addition for macro enthusiasts, offering reproduction that is far superior to the original size with minimal distortion and aberration.
The most important features of the NA-A5000:
Nauticam port locking system - The iconic red locking lever is at home on the NA-A5000; changing the lens and port is quick, easy and secure.
Vacuum system: The integrated vacuum test and leak detection system provides additional security for waterproofness. Use it without the optional vacuum valve and it acts as an audible/visual water ingress detector. Add the vacuum valve and get a watertight integrity indicator via a colour-coded LED light.
Camera zoom lever: New in this camera class is the convenient zoom control on the camera, so no zoom gear is required for the 16-50mm power zoom lens.
Handle lock: Tried and tested on thousands of hides, the lock is secure and easy to use.
Ergonomic controls: The controls on the housing are designed for photography, and each control is clearly labelled.
LCD magnifier with dioptre adjustment
Compact camera systems utilise close-up vision, and the Nauticam LCD Magnifier with Diopter Adjustment (p/n# 25106), available as an accessory, can be beneficial for clearly seeing fine focus and camera display information. The LCD magnifier also provides ample sun protection so that the camera's LCD screen is much easier to see in bright sunlight. Mounting rails (p/n# 25130) are required to mount the LCD magnifier.
Optional rubberised ergonomic grips
The optional Nauticam Flexitray or Easitray provides a lightweight, compact mounting solution for flash arms and the NA-A5000 housing. Nauticam uses a sophisticated overmoulding process to produce extremely comfortable rubberised ergonomic handles. The soft grip and comfortable design makes the handle easy to grip and minimises hand fatigue during long dives. Both single and double grip configurations are available, and each grip can be adjusted laterally, allowing the user to choose the perfect fit.
Flash connector for Inon S-TTL and Sea&Sea DS-TTL
Reliable automatic flash exposure is possible with the NA-A5000 and a variety of optically controlled flashes. The Inon Z-240, D-2000, S-2000, Sea&Sea YS-01 and YS-D1 flash units provide automated lighting and reproduce the camera's built-in flash with a proportionally higher intensity. This system delivers precise automatic TTL flash output - even in manual mode - without electrical sync cables! The NA-A5000 is supplied fibre optic ready and accepts standard sea style socket connectors. Nauticam fibre optic cables, which are available for both Inon and Sea&Sea flashes, offer the best light transmission and therefore a more accurate TTL of any fibre optic cable on the market.
Flashes can be attached to the Nauticam baseplate via optional ball heads attached to the handles or via a single ball head attached to the housing. The housing also has a hot shoe mount for a focus lamp or other mounting options for accessories.
