Nauticam has produced housings for a variety of medium format and mirrorless housings.
The NA-GFX50S takes all this experience and is the first housing for a digital mirrorless medium format camera. Nauticam continues to offer unhindered access to the most important functions that underwater photographers need.
The GFX50S has 10 customisable buttons.
The camera's Q menu can also be adapted to the most frequently used menu items. The menu "Q" is easily accessible via the dual thumb lever on the right side, which also accesses the assignable "Fn 4" button. The left dual thumb lever is used to access the "PLAY" and "DELETE" functions.
The FOCUS piano button on the right side activates the joystick to change the focus point.
The GFX50S has a total of 117 contrast focus points, which can be further subdivided into 425 individually selectable points.
The neighbouring piano button activates the camera's "Fn 5" button.
Flash triggering
The flash is triggered via built-in fibre optic sockets with the Fujifilm EF-X20 TTL flash, which fits into the housing when mounted on the hot shoe. Flash EV can be controlled via a rotary control on the housing and the status can be displayed via special viewing windows.
The flash can be switched on and off via a lever on the left side of the housing.
High-quality professional optics
The GFX 50S uses a new range of specialised lenses called GF. The Nauticam N120 Port System supports many of the systems currently available, including ultra-wide fixed focal length lenses, zoom lenses and macro lenses.
Viewfinder
The standard optical glass viewfinder is very good and travel friendly, but many photographers prefer the simplicity of an enlarging viewfinder with adjustable dioptres. Nauticam produces a "straight" 180º magnifying viewfinder and a 45º angled magnifying viewfinder to make it easier to work in tight spaces, often associated with macro photography. Both viewfinders feature high-quality optics and allow bright viewing of the entire image. A patented external dioptre adjustment allows personalised adjustment to underwater vision and viewfinder changes can be made in less than 30 seconds without tools. Exceptional composition and focus accuracy have never been so accessible.
Vacuum test and leak detection system
The Nauticam vacuum testing and leak detection system is supplied as standard with the NA-GFX50S. In combination with an optional vacuum valve, this monitoring system constantly provides up-to-date information on the watertight and safe diving condition of the housing. A simple, colour-coded LED lighting system shows the user whether the vacuum is stable or whether the housing is losing vacuum. Leakage detection is integrated into the same circuit so that an audible and visual indication is given in the event of water ingress.
The Nauticam system is temperature compensated and eliminates false alarms caused by a change in external temperature or by the heating of a camera during an action-packed dive.
